Autumn 6                                              17 October 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

FIREWORK    FIREWORK    FIREWORK    FIREWORK   FIREWORK   FIREWORK

Don't forget to buy your tickets for this year's fireworks! We only have 1500 tickets available this year so buy them now (and tell family and friends too!) and take advantage of the early bird price until 3 November Sheet Fireworks 2025 at Millennium Field event tickets from TicketSource

We also need more volunteers to help on the night. Please sign up on Classlist here or talk to Tamar Hetherington or Alex Jann in the playground. Its a lot of fun helping out and you won't miss out on the fireworks themselves.

Amazing news, Mrs Beenham had a baby girl on Saturday Olivia weighing in at 6lb  and 15oz. Very well done to mum and enjoy the time with her.

Again we have had a lot of things going on, we are back to the usual staffing levels now after some illness throughout the school. Miss Leney has now finished her Paediatric training and new parent tours for 2026 are steaming ahead.

The pond committee have met and we have selected a winner for the wildlife pond competition - a big well done to everyone who entered, the most popular design voted for by the children was Lulu Coleman. A £5 voucher is on the way to you!

Next week is our final week before half term; we have our Harvest Festival booked for Thursday at 9.30am, please bring your child in with a little something to donate in the church. Also on Thursday Mrs Deuble is having a little cake sale for charity after her craft club which I am sure will be popular!

On Friday we have our annual 'Spooky Run', come to school dressed as a spooky thing and this year I have bought a large tin of chocolates for the winner of the most sponsorship raised. Please start to hand your sponsorship money in from Monday, last year we raised over £500 for the school and it was brilliant fun - with cakes, sweets, jblood juice, tea coffee and music!

Don't forget that next week they are working on the railway crossing next to school.

Have an amazing weekend all!

Please could the children bring in an item of produce from the list below which the Church is planning to split between Stone Pillow (http://stonepillow.org.uk), a charity working with homeless people in Chichester & Bognor and PACT Foodbank.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

Our Year 6s will be out on the playground next week for the annual Royal British Legion poppy appeal.  Included in the box are slapbands, wristbands, poppies, and stickers.

Attendance

Attendance amongst the school from Sep start to 17th October is currentl;y 94.75%. Attendance remains a critical focus of attention for all schools. They have set a target for 95% for all pupils - to date we have not achieved this. Parents have a legal duty to ensure their children of compulsory school age receive a suitable, full-time education, which includes regular and punctual attendance.

Impact on academic achievement

  • Children with nearly perfect attendance are substantially more likely to meet academic standards than those with lower attendance.
  • Missing school leads to a loss of learning, with a child who is absent one day a week missing the equivalent of two years of their school life.
  • The link between high attendance and good exam results is clear, with pupils with persistent absence being less likely to achieve good grades.

Impact on future earnings

  • Government research shows a strong link between absence and lower future earnings.
  • Persistently absent pupils are also more likely to claim benefits for a sustained period later in life.

Wider implications

  • Beyond academics, regular attendance is vital for children's wellbeing, social skills, and mental health.
  • Poor school attendance is closely associated with higher rates of youth crime.

Internet Safety

The South East cyber crime police are hosting an event on Monday 20th ocotber for 1hr from 8-9pm 'Protect yourself and your family with this engaging session designed to help your loved ones thrive in the digital age'.
