Dear Parents and Carers,
What a busy week we've had at Sheet Primary School! I'm excited to share all the wonderful things happening in our school community.
Our after-school clubs are now in full swing, and we have an incredible range of activities for our pupils. We're offering Spanish club, early morning running clubs, choir, basketball, football, craft zen, forest school, and dance clubs. There's something for everyone!
The school photographer visited us this week, capturing those special moments. Photos going home today if you would like free delivery to school please place your order by Friday 3rd October then they should be back before half term. https://fraserportraits.com/primary-school-photos/ with your unique ID number.
Speaking of special moments, music lessons have also kicked off, adding another layer of creativity to our curriculum.
We're already looking ahead and have started new parent tours for September 2026 - it's never too early to plan!
Next week is packed with exciting events:
On Monday, pupils can submit their Head Pupil applications and start to present their Junior Leadership team nominations.
Tuesday will be a big day as our Kestrels class heads off on their residential trip to Tile Barn in Brockenhurst. Also on Tuesday, I'd recommend attending the 'Smartphone Free' presentation at Langrish Primary School at 7pm - it promises to be an insightful evening.
Friday sees the Kestrels returning from their residential. Typically, this would be our Macmillan Coffee afternoon, but we won't be hosting it this year as it clashes with this.
A few important reminders:
If you think you may be eligible to apply for Pupil Premium, please go to the Hampshire Portal - https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants/ which states eligibility criteria. It is REALLY IMPORTANT to get this in place before the end of September.
Your child’s annual Nasal Flu Vaccination is now due as per the email earlier. Click the link below for the electronic form and information about the vaccine. Flu Vaccination Consent Form the school code is in the email.
The railway crossing at Sheet will be closed for works on 25th October to 2nd November, and 8th and 9th November.
If anyone is interested in the junior Portshill running team, please let us know https://forms.office.com/e/2pQ2dhFs9K
We're desperately seeking volunteers for mini-bus driving. Currently, only Mrs Burford, myself and one parent are qualified. This helps keep trip costs down but does take us away from other work. If you have a D class on your licence or are interested and haven't, contact the office for more information.
Scopay is now up and running for trips and lunches - not Arbor. Sorry for the change!
We are a NUT FREE school. This means items like Nutella are not allowed.
Regarding snacks; infant children don't need to bring anything as they're covered by the Government's School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. Junior pupils can bring a piece of fresh or dried fruit, vegetable, or a savoury sandwich. No packaged items like fruit winders or flapjack bars - these will be confiscated. If you have dietary concerns, please come and speak with us.
Stationery update: Children do not need pencil cases. We're supplying all stationery and kindly request a £7.50 donation per term via Scopay. This is much less than you'd spend keeping pencil cases full.
Finally, our Ground Force Day is Saturday, 4th October, from 10am-12pm. If you can help, that would be amazing! One parent is coming in on Friday, 3rd, so you could join forces and we'll likely need some tip runs too. Thank you to those who have already volunteered.
We're looking forward to another fantastic week at Sheet Primary School!
Julie Robinson Head
