Dear Parents/Carers
Hello everyone!
What a fantastic week we've had at Sheet Primary! It's been bustling with activity, and I'm excited to share all the wonderful things that have been happening.
First off, our clubs are up and running. While we've sadly had to say goodbye to Cartoon Club due to lack of interest, there are still plenty of opportunities for our pupils to get involved. We've got spaces available in Young Voices on Tuesdays (do keep in mind there's a trip and costs involved) and Aspire Football on Wednesdays. Spanish Club will be starting again after half term - a new link for enrolment will be sent out in due course. Don't miss out on these great activities!
I'm thrilled to announce that JC Sports is now covering our wraparound care. They're here from 7:45 am and until 6 pm every night after school, offering a fantastic service for our busy families. Please do take advantage of this facility β it's there to help you!
Now, let's celebrate some of our amazing pupils. We had three incredible children take on the Butser Hill challenge last Sunday. Ted, Lucy-Rose, and George showed tremendous spirit tackling that climb! A special shout-out to Ted, who came first in his age group for the second year running. What an achievement!
Speaking of sporting prowess, we had another brilliant football tournament at Bedales. Our under 9 team played their hearts out on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The standard of football was just fantastic and their team spirit and attitude was superb β well done to all involved and again another thank you to Mrs Mifsud and Mrs Dudin for helping out.
Next week, we're kicking off our Travel Tracker. It's our walking challenge where pupils can earn badges each month. If you want to know more, pop over to the Living Streets website at https://www.livingstreets.org.uk/walk-to-school/primary-schools/wow-the-walk-to-school-challenge/. It's a great way to stay active and have fun!
You might have noticed your child coming home with a little surprise in their bag. We had some lovely school photos taken this week, and you've got until 2nd October to order them for free delivery. Don't they look smart?
In the classroom, lessons are in full swing. If you're curious about what your child is learning, do check out the topic webs we sent last week. They're also available on our website, giving you a great overview of the exciting subjects we're covering.
Our new Robins have been absolutely amazing this week. They're settling in beautifully, and next week they'll attend their first assembly where they'll join in singing with the rest of the school. It's always such a special moment! And speaking of new families, we've started showing around potential pupils for September 2025. How exciting to think about the future of our school community!
Looking ahead to next week, our Kestrels are off on their residential trip to Osmington Bay. We've changed things up this year, sending them at the start of the school year rather than the end. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to bond as a group and get to know the staff in a new and exciting environment. Mrs Burford and I will be driving them there on Sunday afternoon, and they will be back on Wednesday afternoon.
For our Robins and Kingfishers parents, don't forget we have a phonics and maths presentation on Tuesday. If childcare is an issue, don't worry βI will be on hand to look after the children in the Robins classroom. It's really important to attend if you can, as it'll help you support your child's learning at home.
Finally, we're rounding off the week with our annual MacMillan Coffee afternoon on Friday at 2:30 pm. We'd be ever so grateful for any cake or biscuit donations you could bring along. It's always such a lovely event, and for such a good cause too!
Here's to another fun-filled week at Sheet Primary. I can't wait to see what exciting things our wonderful pupils will get up to next!
Have a wonderful weekend and take care of yourselves.
Julie Robinson
