Dear Parents/Carers
Welcome back to everyone at Sheet and a very warm welcome to our new year R children who have been AMAZING on their first few mornings We also have some new children who have joined us across the school: Margot in Kingfishers; Samuel & Indie in Herons; Oliver & Millie in Kestrels and two new LSAs, Mrs Thirkeld in Kingfishers and Mrs Sammes in Robins.
As we start the term it's good to remember that there are some really important things to keep your minds on: attendance (see below), uniform and hair tied up neatly, plain dark PE kits (Herons day has changed from Weds to Tuesday - sorry clerical error), snacks are to be: fresh/dried fruit or sandwich/wrap/cracker only, reading record books and clean fresh water in a sports top water bottle and a raincoat (we will be going out even when it's slightly raining).
Our running track has been a great success this week. We have signed up to The Daily Mile. The Daily Mile is a social physical activity, with children running, or walking – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends. Children can occasionally walk to catch their breath, if necessary, but should aim to run or jog for the full 15 minutes.
Volunteer Help: Is there anyone who could volunteer in school with reading? Just an hour or so would be amazing, you will need a DBS check and read and sign some policies for us but we can do everything.
Library help: Now that our lovely Mrs Hobson has left, Mrs Wilby would love some help in the library on Friday afternoons. All training will be given and library visits will start in a few weeks.
Clubs: If you haven't already booked a place at a club please do! There are spaces in: Forest School, Craft Club AND Netball (Thursdays now Y3-6).
Wrap Around Cover: JC Sports have extended their offer and now cover 7.45 - 8.40 and 3.15 - 6.00 every day!
Before I go, I just wanted to say a huge thank you from us all here for the wonderful and thoughtful gifts that you bought staff at the end of the summer term. There is absolutely no need for this but it is a lovely gesture. Mrs Philpott asked me to specifically say how hugely grateful she was for the lovely send off from all of the parents and children at the end of the term and for the generosity with the lovely gifts she was given. I have been in touch with her and she is settling into her new school well.
See the attached online safety bulletin for September and save the date for the Smartphone free childhood evening.
