Dear Parents/Carers
We said a sad farewell to our two students, Miss Robinson and Miss Murray who have been with the Kestrels over this summer term. We wish them luck on their student-teaching journey!
It has been a slightly less hectic week this week. At the bottom end of the school, our new recruits have stepped into school with their first footsteps meeting.
In the middle, it has been sports galore with a Year 3/4 Bohunt rounders festival and yesterday a wonderful day at Winchester at the Hampshire School Games. It was the first time we had taken part and, it was a fantastic day! The festival provides a positive, uplifting experience of sport and physical activity and takes the chance to showcase the wide range of opportunities available beyond school sport and our children LOVED it!
At the top end of the school our Year 6s researched, planned, budgeted, bought, made and sold cupcakes this week. Thank you so much for supporting them - see Martha's write up.
In our RE lessons and in assembly this week we were talking about safety and out of the whole school only around 10 children knew their parent's phone number. Just got me thinking perhaps it is something that they could learn over the holidays (just in case they ever need it).
Don't forget the Small Schools Gala tonight - come along and cheer the team on! 6.15pm for 6.30pm start!
Saturday we have some brilliant children opening the Sheet Olympics at 2pm on Saturday afternoon. We have been rehearsing lots today! Looks like a sunny afternoon, why not join as a family team - a great afternoon out!
Infants classes - this year we have developed our infant classes a little more. There will be more mixed class and separate year group teaching in year 1 and 2 - teaching by both Mrs Child and Mrs Beenham throughout the day and a real sense of 'Infants' rather than The Kingfishers and The Robins. We have worked on this for a couple of years and although some year 1 children will register in the Robins, their day will be identical to everyone's year 1.
Next week, we have our class photos, these are on Wednesday, please come in wearing a smart school uniform. If you have PE that day, please wear school uniform and bring your PE kit with you. Year 6s, you will need your (clean) leavers hoodies and a change of casual clothing to wear for your leavers photo.
Some lucky year 5's are going to either Horndean College or Churchers college for an engineering/maths day. We also have some ex-pupils coming in to help us in class and with the play (they can't keep away).
Don't forget to fill in our annual questionnaire HERE we are now up to 64 responses! Can we get to 100!!!
Oh and big congratulations to the Lundquist family who had a baby girl this week!
