Dear Parents/Carers
We have enjoyed our swimming lessons this week in the glorious sunshine and we are all ready for the small schools gala - unfortunately this event has now been rearranged to Friday 21st June. An email has gone out to those swimmers in Y5/6 who are taking part, but please let me know if you now cannot make the event and apologies for the change of date!
The cake sale for Herons class went really well yesterday raising a total of: £63.70 so far, the class will decide on what they would like to purchase with these funds. The next class is Kestrels on Friday 5th July.
Representatives from the NSPCC came in this week and held workshops for Year 2 and Year 5/6 - Our Safeguarding Governor, Mr McKinney also joined the workshops. A very informative programme for all of our children, more information on what was discussed, presented and shared can be found at: https://learning.nspcc.org.uk/services/speak-out-stay-safe
Governor news - Following our recent vote for a new parent governor I am very pleased to announce that Michael Mifsud has received the most votes this afternoon following by counting of votes with Mrs Child and Mrs Ramble. We congratulate Michael and look forward to welcoming him to the next FGB on Monday 24th June.
All of the classes thoroughly enjoyed their trips to Dell Quay Chichester this week. A huge thank you to Mrs Philpott who organised this field trip for the children as Geography co-ordinator - definitely a trip to keep! Please click here to see all the photos from the Y1/2 trip and here for the photos from the Junior trip.
Speaking of Mrs Philpott, after many years here at Sheet it is time for her to move on and we will be very sad to see her go. I have sent the staffing for September to you so you can see that we have adjusted some classes and part time/full time hours to accommodate this change. We will miss her and will celebrate her achievements on our final day whole school 'picnic on the field' event we have at the end of the school year 12.00pm. Pick up is then 1.15pm following registration and school clear out!
To next week: Sports Day forecast looks good for Tuesday - see below for the event details. Don't forget you are welcome to picnic on the grounds from 12pm and be sure to order your £3 cream tea too!
New parents induction evening is on Wednesday 12th and Infant Father's Day lunches on 13th and 14th. There are now only places left on Thursday for this and the deadline is today!
On Friday there is a special cross-country event for Year 2 children at Froxfield, a letter went out yesterday.
Please don't forget the suncream, hats and water every day now that the sun has become more permanent!
Parent help - Could some parents come and help us get rid of the straw on the field please, I'm not sure where it can go. We need to clear it for the Junior production. Any ideas gratefully received. Also, there is quite a bit of 'rubbish' that needs to be taken to the tip - anyone got a big car and could book in a trip for us? It would be much appreciated.
I love the summer term and, although we are super organised, the amount of jobs and events to do is always overwhelming as we race to the end of the school year, please bear with us if we miss anything.
Enjoy the sunshine!
Julie Robinson
