2 Kingfishers Year 1/2

Welcome to Kingfisher Class

Our Summer Term has started brilliantly with a fabulous trip to the Tower of London as part of our topics on London geography and the Great Fire in history. This term is equally as engaging with Communication Then and Now in history and Africa in geography. What a wonderful contrasting locality! Sadly, we can't take a trip to Africa however, we shall be taking a trip to Dell Quay after half term to investigate Animal Habitats as part of our science.

In PE we shall be out on the field in the fresh air as much as possible. We shall be gearing up for Sports Day with athletics practice and honing our striking and catching skills. Let's hope the weather gets a bit warmer for us! PE days continue to be Monday and Wednesday.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. It is very important that your child completes this as it complements the work done in class and is sometimes research based to inform the following weeks' lessons.

Reading continues to be a large part of Kingfishers life. Phonics is a daily lesson and daily reading at home is key to your child's progress. After all it takes a village, the Sheet village, to raise a child.

As ever, our door is always open for any questions, queries or concerns. Here's to a super summer term.
