1 Robins Year R/1

Welcome to Robins Class

Mrs Beenham at work

A warm welcome back to you all after the two-week Easter break and we are all geared up for a jam packed, fun-filled final term in Robins class!

The children have really enjoyed the start to their new topic of Amazing Africa. So far we have read the story of Handa’s Surprise and learnt about Kenya, the country where the story is set.  We enjoyed preparing and tasting the exotic fruits from the story and even made our own passports for our flights to Kenya on ‘Sheet Airways’!  As the term progresses, we will be looking at the stories of The Ugly Five, Handa’s Hen and Mama Panya’s Pancakes and we are planning to organise a trip to Marwell Zoo to compliment the children’s learning about African safari animals.  After half term, our second summer term topic will be all about communications through the ages, however in keeping with the principles of Early Years we will, of course, be taking into account the children’s own interests within our planning.

Just a couple of reminders that our PE Day is on Tuesday and our Year 1 children also have outdoor PE on Wednesdays with Kingfisher class. It is important that your children come into school with everything they may need for the day, their reading folders, water bottles, as well as a coat and wellies for when the weather is cold or wet, as we do get outside every day, thank you. As the term progresses and the warmer weather (finally) arrives we will be asking that your children come in with sunhats, with sun cream being applied in the morning before coming to school, thank you.

If you have any questions or queries, then please do pop in and say hello, our door is always open and you would be very welcome!

Many Thanks

The Robins Team
