1 Robins Year R/1

Welcome to Robins Class

Wow, it is unbelievable to think that the children are now in their last term of Year R, the year has flown by!

We have had a lovely start to the Summer Term where our topic is all about Amazing Africa! The children have enjoyed looking at where Africa is on our globe in the class, and learning some different facts all about the country of Kenya. As the topic progresses we will be learning about how Africa is different to the UK, what animals live there and what their habitats are like. We will also be doing some creating some African-inspired artwork, tasting some exotic fruit from the story of Handa’s Surprise as well as looking at the stories of The Ugly Five, Mama Panya’s Pancakes and Handa’s Hen. We are also hoping to organise an exciting trip to Marwell Zoo so we hope the sun will shine for us! As we move through the Summer Term our second topic will be ‘At the Seaside’, plus we have Father’s Day and Sports Day to look forward to as well, so it is sure to be a fun-packed Summer Term.

Just a couple of reminders that our PE Days are on Monday and Friday and if your child attends an after school Sports Club they may come to school in their PE kit; this saves a lot of time getting them changed at the end of the day. It is important that your children come into school with everything they may need for the day, such as their reading folders and water bottles. As the weather warms up, we kindly ask that you please provide your child with a sun hat and apply sun cream in the morning before coming to school if you wish them to have it on. Thank you.

If you have any questions or queries then please do pop in and say hello, our door is always open and you would be very welcome!

Many Thanks

The Robins Team
