Welcome to Kestrels Class

Welcome back to Kestrels – Spring term 2025. What an exciting term lies ahead as we delve into the Ancient Maya civilisation. This fascinating topic will transport the children back in time to find out who were the Ancient Maya and why should we remember them? We will read The Explorer by Katherine Rundell which is set in the Amzon rainforest and learn how to play the exciting, but deadly game of Pok-A-Tok. Would you dare to play? This half term also sees some of us heading off to Young Voices at the O2! We are also eagerly awaiting reply letters from our new French pen pals – super exciting. We will hopefully get to visit a Mosque as part of our RE curriculum, following our visit from local Imam Adeel Shah, last half term.

As we progress into the second half of the term, we will look at the Amazing Americas, studying the book Holes by Louis Sachar.  This will also see Kestrels work together during PSHE lessons to create a fundraising project for Red Nose Day in March. During computing lessons, children will begin to explore the many possibilities of AI and what its capable of.
